Thursday, 9 December 2021 – Christmas Drinks at the London Library, St James’s Square

We are delighted to invite all members to our Christmas Drinks Party, held this year at the London Library.

Our reception takes place in the magnificent Reading Room, research epicentre for writers from Arthur Conan Doyle to Antonia Fraser and setting for the opening chapter of AS Byatt’s Possession.

London’s first lending library, this celebrated institution opened in 1841, following a fund-raising campaign led by the writer Thomas Carlyle. Its initial collection of 2,000 books now embraces more than 1,000,000 titles covering 2,000 subjects in 55 different languages.

We will have the opportunity to view a selection of its many treasures.
