Trent-Park

Thursday 18 June – Visit to Trent Park “House of Secrets”

We will be welcomed to Trent Park over coffee by its Director, Dr Giuseppe Albano. Our morning visit to the “House of Secrets” commences with a tour of the upstairs state apartments. After a light lunch at the Blue Room Café, Dr Albano will escort us through the house’s lower reaches.

During the Second World War this basement area was a surveillance centre for captive German officers encouraged to relax – and to chat with incautious abandon – in the rooms above.

Wednesday 13 May – Dinner with Sir Matthew Bourne

We are delighted that Sir Matthew Bourne will be our principal guest for dinner at the prestigious Walbrook Club. One of Britain’s most successful choreographers, his adaptations of Sleeping Beauty, Edward Scissorhands, The Red Shoes, Dorian Gray, and Lord of the Flies have added new dimensions to these celebrated stories. We will have the rare opportunity to discuss his numerous achievements as we dine

Our four-night trip embraces some of this city’s lesser known aspects of Moroccan art and culture. We will visit artists’ studios, see craftsmen at work, and enjoy special guided tours of museums and galleries — all accompanied by wonderful local food.

An early evening visit to the fascinating Eaton Square home of multifaceted collector Mark Storey. We will enjoy exceptional access to his library, which is also a museum of singular non-literary treasures. Our focus will be on late 19th-century British publications and works of art.

We are delighted to offer a complimentary members-only private visit to the Savile Row gallery of Luxembourg & Co to see the exhibition Balthus: Under the Surface. 

Expect new critical perspectives on the artist’s legacy as the show focuses on his engagement with ‘surface’ as both a material and a psychological quality. Our tour will be conducted by Dr Yuval Etgar, the curator of this exhibition.
